Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified persons for appointment to the position of: POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW. The Biometallurgy Division at Mintek invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship aimed at advancing inter-disciplinary research at the intersection of chemical engineering, biometallurgy, and computational biology. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative methodologies and deepen scientific understanding across these converging disciplines. They will join a dynamic, inter-disciplinary team dedicated to developing and refining experimental protocols and computational approaches to optimise heap leaching processes and other bioprocessing systems within metallurgical applications.
Job description

   Contribute to the establishment of computational biology capabilities within the research programme, focusing on system modelling and simulation.


Conduct both experimental and theoretical investigations into heap leaching processes, encompassing chemical and biological interactions, with a strong emphasis on hydrodynamic behaviour.


Develop, implement and refine computational models to predict and optimise heap leaching performance, leveraging machine learning techniques to enhance model accuracy and industrial applicability.

  • Certified copy of doctoral certificate (or letter from the university confirming meeting of Ph.D. requirements).
