KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INDICATOR
- Supervise and execute research addressing complex and often unique problems that are encountered by the specific industry sector and that require high levels of integration and specialised knowledge and skills
- Undertake research related to the objectives of the group, including desktop studies, preliminary economic evaluations, metallurgical reporting and project reporting.
- Exercise foresight, creativity and judgement based on scientific / engineering principles to ensure that research projects / programmes are planned and guided.
- Conceptualise, design, execute, analyse and troubleshoot independently
- Assess the environment to determine opportunities for research and transform opportunities into proposals for funded research to ensure external revenue contribution.
- Analyses, interprets and reports on complex research outcomes and is regarded as an emerging specialist / expert. This includes reports, publications, presentations, inventions etc. at the level of national expert level
- As a decision maker be responsible for the assessment and management of all risks related to the projects / programs under direct control.
- Responsible for significant equipment / facilities.
- Work independently and provides instruction to junior staff.
- Will lead, guide, mentor and train staff and will supervise post-graduate students.
Minimum requirements
· Min: PhD in Chemical/metallurgical engineering (preceded by BSc(Eng) or BEng and MSc(Eng) or MEng.
· Minimum: 5-10 years’ experience in the field directly related to the duties and responsibilities undertaken in the Division.
· Exposure to, and an understanding of bioprocesses, especially bioleaching.
· Exposure to and an understanding of, mine water and waste challenges, treatment and value recovery.
· Ideal: SACNASP or ECSA registered
