Job description

Administration
  • Prepares and submits regular maintenance reports
  • Plans and ensures timely completion of planned preventive maintenance programs
  • Analyze complex operational and administrative problems, evaluate and recommend or implement effective courses of action
  • Plan and approve leave for subordinates
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards and management controls.
  • Measure, record and report on utilities consumption

Budget
  • Prepare, administer and monitor budget for maintenance sub-division
  • Prepare 5 year Capex plan
  • Prepare business case for all proposed changes and improvement of systems, plant and equipment
  • Assist manager to review budget
 
Maintenance Management
 
  • Plan, organize and direct maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on Mintek assets
  • Initiate plans and processes to minimize maintenance costs through effective utilization of human resources, equipment, facilities, materials and capital
  • Implement maintenance strategies and action plans to ensure that facilities, services and equipment support Mintek’s strategic initiatives
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned sections for problem solving and cost reduction, both on permanent and ad-hoc basis.
  • Develops, reviews and updates written maintenance instructions and schedules
  • Provides technical assistance to staff and clients (Mintek divisions) in plant design and operation
  • Prepare reports, analyze data and make recommendations for improving plant and facilities
  • Prepare tender specifications for outsourced services and procurement of plant and equipment
  •  Ensure good maintenance practices are employed for mechanical, civil and electrical    plant, equipment and facilities

Human Resources Management

  • Select, motivate and evaluate staff and provide for their training and development
  • Ensure company policies are communicated to all staff in the area of responsibility and that they are adhered to
  • Chair disciplinary enquiries
  • Maintain a productive team environment within the area of responsibility
  • Identify skills gap in your sub-division and ensure that suitable training is identified, selected and that staff s trained to close the skills gap

Statutory Obligations

  • Ensure that all procured and installed equipment and machinery in Mintek complies to OHS Act, Regulations  and applicable standards
  • Assist Department of Labor Inspector with his/her inspections and enquiries
  • Ensure all statutory inspections on all Mintek equipment are carried out correctly and on time
  • Advise Mintek divisional managers of the statutory requirements on the equipment and plant they are responsible for, support them to ensure that they are fully compliant
  • Ensure that all contractors working on site comply to company regulations and OHS Act
  • Participates in pre-construction sessions for plant, equipment and structures
  • Personally respond to inquiries and complaints from Health and Safety Inspectors as far as equipment is concerned
  • Carry GMR 2(1 or 7) appointee’s duties

Project Management
  • lead the planning and implementation of project
  • facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • define project tasks and resource requirements
  • develop full scale project plans
  • assemble and coordinate project staff
  • manage project budget
  • plan and schedule project timelines
  • track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • provide direction and support to project team
  • constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
 
Other
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary
  • Assume the responsibilities of the departmental head in the absence of the Manager.
 

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • National Diploma Mechanical Engineering GCC factories
  • B.Sc Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideal: B Sc Mech Eng Degree, GCC factories, Pr Eng plus PM
  • 5 years of Engineering experience and 2 years as a Senior Engineer
